In two days, I start the NaNoWriMo! I'm very excited because I think that this will be an opportunity for me to learn how not to re-write everything until I finish a draft of my story.
Working Title: Spanish Moss
Heroine: Carly McKissick - 30 year-old Navy Nurse who no longer believes in love or marriage. She was soured by her long-time boyfriend dumping her for a younger/richer debutante while she was stationed in Hawaii.
Hero: Ausitn Lowell - 24 year-old petty officer from Texas who joined the Navy to get out of Texas. He left his uncle's ranch after they had a falling out. (over what is the question? Howie's wife?) He's been in the Navy for four years. He falls in love with Carly almost instantly.
Setting: 1942 Charleston
Major Plot Points:
They meet.
Carly resists.
Kate (a friend) arranges for them to meet again
Carly reluctantly begins to care for Austin
She reads in the paper where Trip is getting married (and doubts start in on her)
She dumps Austin
Austin goes back to sea
Carly is missing him, but thinks she's better off alone
Austin's boat is attacked by a German U-boat in the Caribbean and he's injured.
He's taken to the Naval Hospital in Charleston
He meets Trip (Carly's ex)
The meet again and Austin tells her he loves her, he understands no. Carly says she still can't, she's afraid of losing him.
Trudy (an important secondary character throughout the book) talks to Carly about her own first love.
Carly catches Austin before he gets back on a boat and tells him that she'll wait for him.
Hopefully, this plus my rather important subplot about Kate and Ben will give me 50,000 words.....Keeping my fingers crossed.

Hey Vikki!
I enjoyed seeing you at the Plotting Bash last weekend. The plot sounds good. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you too! (You know, I have so many fingers crossed for so many people and things...It might get hard to type soon ^_^)
Just letting you know I'm adding you to my bloglines so I can keep up with you.
Good luck on this first day of NaNo!
