Biting off More Than I Can Chew

So at the beginning of March, I decided that I was going to write a Silhouette Nocturne Bite in about two weeks. That's between 10,000-15,000 words. This is actually quite doable if life doesn't get in the way and if you have the story plotted out in advance.

Unfortunately, life got in the way in the form of three major projects coming due at work and a visit from Mom and Dad last Saturday. To add more difficulty, I'm more or less doing this by the seat of my pants based on a general idea that I had floating in my head.

Running things by the seat of my pants is definitely not my style! I've been bouncing ideas off a writing buddy of mine. Thank heavens!

The story is moving along quite well, albeit more slowly than I anticipated. Its a vampire story set in Charleston,SC. Yes, this is my favorite setting. 400 years of tumultuous history collides in that place. There's always a story there. Since this is a paranormal, it seems appropriate to set it in a city that is full of ghosts.

I may do a blog on some interesting bits of Charleston history...a little later. Just so that you can get an idea of why I love it so much.

So is there any particular setting that you could use over and over again?

Don't worry. You're getting there! Remember, just keep writing, and you will get the story on the page.

As to locales? Well, I can't say I use the same place over and over as I always invent a fictions city to put my story in. ^_^ Maybe I'll have to try writing about a real place one day.
