I played hooky from work today. Seriously, I took a vacation day to have some work done on my car this morning. Once it was done, I had the whole afternoon free to play. I met some friends for a write-in on the horseshoe at USC. It was a beautiful spring day so there were lots of people out and about. We didn’t get much writing done, but boy did we ever people watch.
Some of the people that I noticed:
The older man walking across the Horseshoe wearing a bowtie. It was the USC president. I didn’t have to make up a story about him. He’s in the papers occasionally.
The good looking young man in the polo shirt and khakis walking a little yippy dog. I thought…there’s a henpecked husband or boyfriend. I have no proof that he’s married or dating, but I make assumptions because of the tiny dog.
The should-not. Ok so there was more than one should not out and about today, but this one was particularly noticeable. She should not have been wearing horizontal stripes or a skirt that short. The fashion police would have written her a ticket. Not that I have a whole lot of room to talk. Some of the things that I wore in college would put me in fashion jail these days.
The cute little flirting couple. Now, they might not have been a couple. There were many times in college that Adam and I sat out on Bowman field or in the stands of a baseball game or at Peppino’s looking like a couple. We weren’t.
Is people watching a writer thing or do other people do it too?

I was there...people watching with you instead of writing. Does that mean I'm disqualified from answering the question? ^_~
no...you're not disqualified!
I was there too, but I didn't get much people-watching in. I think a lot of people people-watch. Wow that was an awkward sentence. I think writers have the most fun making up stories for all the passers-by though.
