The Challenge of Traveling

So when I contemplated taking my iron to the conference, I knew that I had gone too far. You see, I can't take a trip for a weekend without packing like I'm traveling for a month. I sit in my bedroom, surrounded by my stuff, and I pack for every possible contingency that I can think of. I'm pretty sure that it's hereditary because the rest of my mother's family is just like me. If the women in our family were dropped on a deserted island with only our luggage, I think we could survive for a year (provided we didn't kill each other and that we could find a source of fresh drinking water).

The point of that story is that I am going to Moonlight and Magnolias today for my very first writers' conference. I'm really excited about it. And as usual, I'm overpacked. (Yes, I'm taking the iron.) The car is packed and my fellow Tri-Mu, Kalayna and I will be leaving soon. She is not usually an over-packer, but between the two of us, we're taking enough stuff to live at the Hilton for a couple of months. So, apparently, not only is over-packing hereditary, it is also contagious.

I plan on posting pictures from the conference next week so stay tuned!
