H-- Hen (Little Red)

Do you know the story of the Little Red Hen?

If you don't know the story, here is a Cliff Notes version Or you can read it HERE:

  • Little Red Hen found a corn grain: No One would help her plant it.
  • Little Red Hen needed to cut the corn: No One would help her cut it.
  • Little Red Hen needed to take the corn to the mill: No One would go with her.
  • Little Red Hen needed someone to help her make dough from the flour: No One would help her.
  • Little Red Hen asked if anyone wanted to help her eat the bread: EVERYONE volunteered.
  • Little Red Hen told them all to kiss her butt and she ate it all up...
Sometimes, we Mamas can understand TOTALLY the Little Red Hen's predicament.
I can't speak for you, but I know how much earlier I get up than my family, how much later I stay up, how I seem to know where EVERYTHING is (except my brain-- and strangly my sanity), how I'm the behind the scenes person.
But...
The behind the scene's person is the one rarely seen.
The animals in the story didn't see the Little Red Hen until she had something they wanted.
Sometimes, Mama's don't become visable until socks aren't where they are 'supposed' to be-- or kids can't find their shoes (even though you've told them where to put them)-- or if you run out of toilet paper-- or if you fail at something.
Do you ever feel that way?
I wish I had some awesome words of 'AWWWW' to inspire you with this. It's frustrating and you aren't alone.
It's not good-- it's not bad-- it's just the way of the world.
BUT if this scenero rings true for you, lets see how we can turn our frowns upside down-- we are SO important that the world (ie our homes) would fall down without us! No one would know where the underwear was, where the motor oil bought in 2008 was, what to do for booboos. The doors wouldn't get locked, the clothes wouldn't be washed, and the house wouldn't be dusted (how ever rarely... ).
You are so important that you are only missed if you are gone (or sick-- or on strike). That's actually pretty telling of how important YOU REALLY ARE!
Sometimes we feel more like the Little Red Hen than Cinderella, but that's ok. Little Red Hen got a loaf of bread at the end. Cinderella only got a high heeled slipper that you KNOW had to hurt her foot.
Here's the the Little Red Hens in the world :)
Much Love,
Kelly
